Abstract

The Bilingual School Dictionary (BSD) is an important tool in the foreign language learning process. However, students are not aware of the information contained in these dictionaries, nor are they aware of their use in producing language. The objective of this study was to call attention to the need to establish a more specific position regarding the place (frequency of use) of bilingual dictionaries in the foreign language classroom, by evaluating the use of Bilingual Portuguese-English / English-Portuguese School Dictionaries during the writing of a text by learners of English as a foreign language.
