Interpretive Theory Applied to Community Translation in Africa

According to the its basic principles, the théorie interprétative approaches the translation process as being mainly centered on how the meaning expressed in the source-text is understood and transferred into the target text. This theoretical approach is worthy of consideration in so far as it is not restricted to a given category of languages and proposes methodologies that call for a sharp separation of the act of translating from linguistic aspects of the source-text. This study aims to open a reflection on the relevance of the théorie interprétative and to question its universal nature with a view to a translation didactics in African languages.
