Paranoá's Volume 18 brought together, throughout the year of 2025, a set of contributions that reflect the thematic and methodological diversity of contemporary research in Architecture, Urbanism, and related fields. Published on a continuous flow basis, this volume reinforces the journal’s mission to disseminate original studies and promote the advancement of scientific and critical knowledge within the discipline.

The articles published address different scales and dimensions of the production of space, encompassing theoretical reflections, historical analyses, empirical investigations, and applied studies. Among the topics explored are discussions on urban design and the history of urbanism in Brazil, analyses of architectural and cultural experiences, studies on landscape, design, and urban spatial perception, as well as investigations related to architectural heritage, housing policies, and contemporary socio-spatial transformations.

The volume also includes research focused on the technological and environmental dimensions of architecture, including studies on thermal comfort, climatic zoning and water conservation for buildings, highlighting the dialogue between architecture, sustainability, and environmental performance. Among the contributions, particular attention is given to works examining the formation of disciplinary fields, such as research on the development of the Urban Design field in Brazil, as well as historical and critical analyses of architecture and Latin American architectural culture, and studies exploring the relationship between design, city, and landscape through different analytical and methodological approaches.

Organized into the sections Design and Planning, Theory, History and Criticism and Technology, Environment and Sustainability, the works published in this volume demonstrate the plurality of perspectives that characterize the field of Architecture and Urbanism and reaffirm Paranoá’s commitment to disseminating high-quality research grounded in scientific rigor and academic relevance. With the completion of Volume 18, the editorial team records and celebrates the contributions of the authors who participated in this edition and expresses its appreciation to the reviewers, editors, and collaborators whose work made this volume possible.
