Abstract

This paper aims at presenting the results of a study which main objectives were both to investigate and understand the way in which the English teaching and learning process occurred in a Foreign Language Project implemented in the first four grades of the Public Elementary Schools of a small city in the interior of São Paulo. It is also a purpose of this study to investigate the teaching-learning process mentioned in order to promote, through critical reflection, richer and more appropriate contexts for foreign language acquisition to occur. This work takes teachers' implicit educational theories as well as the course planning as a starting
point for its investigation.
