This article studied the perceptions of undergraduate Journalism students at a university in the Serra Catarinense region (Brazil) about disinformation. The research is descriptive and exploratory, and the data collection was done through an online form with 24 questions, from April 16 to 23, 2021. The sample is non-probabilistic, for convenience, with 77 respondents among the 88 enrolled in the first semester of 2021. The results indicate: fake news is the term chosen to define the phenomenon; information is sought on cell phones with internet, on social networks and messaging apps. It is worth noting that politics and health are the most affected topics, in chains or mimicking journalistic content, by adults politically radicalized to the right. It’s concluded that it’s necessary to develop critical capacity, raising issues such as media criticism and the fight against disinformation, to be encouraged in universities, in the training of future journalists - with curricula that invest in the theoretical-methodological and epistemological-reflective training, not just practical, of students.
