A gestão democrática e o desafio da construção da participação coletiva

Este trabalho é o resultado do projeto de pesquisa "A construção da autonomia escolar", desenvolvida entre 1999 e 2000 em escolas municipais da região central do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Dessa pesquisa participaram 17 dos 34 municípios integrantes da região. Este trabalho trata da formação do coletivo escolar, pelo qual as escolas deverão adquirir o princípio da gestão democrática. Nesse processo, os docentes deverão assumir a responsabilidade com a construção da identidade da escola, junto à comunidade escolar. A pesquisa participante foi a metodologia adotada e se desenvolveu através de reuniões com os professores e diretores de cada unidade escolar, buscando identificar, através do posicionamento de seus profissionais, condições, dificuldades e avanços com vistas à democratização da gestão. Conclui-se que ainda há a cultura da divisão do trabalho e da centralização do poder, o que dificulta uma mudança de postura na organização administrativo-pedagógica da escola com base em decisões coletivas .
