Os autores abordam aspectos relacionados ao aproveitamento de novas tecnologias na prática educativa, em especial a informática, e o acesso a grandes redes de informação, como a Internet. São tratados assuntos como o ciclo de vida de uma nova tecnologia, os passos necessários para sua absorção e avaliação, com ênfase na necessidade de capacitação e treinamento continuado de professores e técnicos envolvidos no processo de ensino e aprendizado, conceitos esses que constituem a base do trabalho na área de informática educativa desenvolvido no Instituto Abel, Niterói, RJ.
