Translation teaching: Is there an effective methodology?

The aim of this paper is to analyze what is involved in the pedagogy of translation. A brief history of the formalization of translation and the question of whether translation is a science or an art are presented The next step is to examine the treatment given to the pedagogy of translation by different authors concerning the emphasis on the praxis or theory; process or product. The present paper also comments on the available support bibliography, possible procedures and the importance of a more wide ranging education.
