Esta resenha apresenta e comenta a obra polonesa Friedrich Schleiermacher’s Pathways of Translation: Issues of Language and Communication, escrita por Piotr de Bończa Bukowski. A publicação compreende uma perspectiva cronológica e também interdisciplinar da obra de Friedrich D. E. Schleiermacher (1768-1834), apontando paradigmas de tradução e suas interfaces que foram problematizadas pelo teórico em seus textos. Bukowski localiza Schleiermacher como um estudioso fundamental para qualquer teoria da tradução, não apenas por suas contribuições específicas sobre métodos de tradução, mas também por suas reflexões mais amplas sobre filologia, hermenêutica, dialética e filosofia da religião. A apreciação multidisciplinar da produção do teórico alemão possibilita que, como tradutores, compreendamos a construção das teorias modernas de tradução. Também, que múltiplas áreas de conhecimento estão implicadas no ato tradutório, propiciando uma retrospectiva da construção do campo, e permitindo um olhar rearticulado para o fazer tradutório atual.
