Abstract

This brief exhibition has a fundamentally personal and historical character, with an Anglo-American (possibly American) inclination, which essentially marks my own involvement for 25 years in the profession. For me, the focus behind the deliberately contentious title of this paper is the increasing importance of “method” as the central methodological subject in our area - how to help people learn languages - and the relative uselessness of existing methods, as labeled entities and marketed separately.
