A tradução de teoria na formação do tradutor

Ainda que haja uma forte tendência em se pensar no ensino de tradução como um treino na arte de transferir um texto em língua A para um texto em língua B, formar um profissional de tradução envolve diversos processos que vão muito além de conhecimento linguístico. Em um curso universitário, espera-se que o tradutor em formação desenvolva diferentes competências para lidar com as complexidades do fenômeno tradutório, sendo que o conhecimento de teoria tem o potencial de trazer incontáveis benefícios para o aprendizado dos futuros profissionais. Esses benefícios podem ser ainda maiores quando a própria teoria se torna material a ser traduzido. Traduzir textos que discutem a tradução do ponto de vista prático e teórico não só contribui para a aquisição de conhecimento sobre o fazer tradutório, como também promove o compartilhamento do que está sendo discutido nos Estudos da Tradução. Ao ter acesso, por meio da tradução, a diferentes perspectivas, podemos repensar nossas abordagens teórico-metodológicas, assim como compartilhar nossas reflexões, visto que fazemos parte de um grupo que produz e consome um alto volume de textos traduzidos. Em um mundo globalizado, essas trocas via tradução são essenciais para minimizar desigualdades e assimetrias. Neste artigo, busco contribuir com essa discussão a partir da prática docente, mostrando como a tradução de teoria é exercitada em diferentes estágios de um curso de Bacharelado em Tradução.
