Abstract

From a Hispanic comparatist perspective, we revisit the lack of terminological consensus in the field of translation studies, focusing on the key concepts of original, source text, and version. We reflect on how the transposable use of version and translation or original and source text may affect translation research, hinder criticism, and impact translation teaching and learning. Our proposal is non-prescriptive and it also aims at calling for consensus on the terminology applied in translation studies for greater accuracy, understanding, or discrepancy, as well.
