Abstract

This research aimed to verify the presence of storytelling in the English textbooks chosen by the Brazilian National Textbook Program for Primary Schools, for 2014. The definition presented by Pellowsky (1977, p.15): “The art or craft of narration in verse and/or prose as performed, or led by one person before a live audience (…)” is used as basis for the research. After the analysis of the books Alive, It Fits and Vontade de Saber Inglês, this research concluded that there is not a focus on storytelling as proposed in this research project.
