Developing academic literacy is a crucial requirement for universities, as the transition to a new dimension of discursive practices proves to be a complex challenge for students. In this context, the objective is to analyze the “SLATE Project” (DREYFUS et al., 2016), placing it within the scope of Functional-Systemic Linguistics (SFL) (HALLIDAY, 1985) and Genre-based Pedagogy (ROSE; MARTIN, 2012). Methodologically, this is a study of a bibliographic and reflective nature, as its scientific bias focuses on the appreciation of the panorama built around the dialogues that were established from such a program. To select these conversations, the criteria is that the text must be an academic article and have been published since 2010 – the year the project ended. By formulating a state of the art regarding the “SLATE Project”, it is possible to understand where the main research is located and which aspects are recurrent in the analyses, showing that the pedagogical approach of this program reveals traces of inventiveness when developing academic literacy in a virtual environment education.
