This article aims to discuss the complex narrative setting of two important Latin American literary works: Pedro Paramo, by Juan Rulfo, written in 1955, and El último lector, by David Toscana, written in 2004. There are many aspects in common between them, but the main one is the way they hold in History the power that allows both novels, as being art works, to collect the real and deep movement of Latin American History
