Interview with Pedro Ruivo, dubber and dubbing translator of RuPaul’s Drag Race in Brazil

In this interview, Pedro Ruivo, actor, translator and voice actor, discusses his experience as translator of the dubbing script for the 10th season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and as a voice actor (dubber) in the 17th season of RuPaul's Drag Race. The interview focuses on Audiovisual Translation from English into Brazilian Portuguese, addressing the challenges faced in dubbing, particularly regarding the translation of expressions from queer language. The interviewee shared details about the translation process, such as delivery of audiovisual material and script, preparation time, and other technical aspects. Moreover, he discussed the criteria behind some translation choices and the tools used in the translation process. The interviewee also discussed about his experience as a voice actor, referring to the main challenges, the need for adjustments to the translated script, and other practical aspects of dubbing. Finally, he discussed about the reception and the impact of Audiovisual Translation within the context of the show.
