Abstract

Through an ethnographic view this article reports the observation of English lessons in four groups in three different institutions: public school, private school and English course in the city of São Paulo. The aim of this project is to show the problematic of lack of motivation in English lessons in general as an impediment of the foreign language learning, what may be caused by the one-way direction of the lesson, from the book to the student.
