This paper proposes a translation into Portuguese of an oratory speech by Alcidamas which is entitled On those who write written speeches or on sophists. In the work, it is argued that an orator should aim for the ability to speak extempore on any subject as opposed to the orators who write and memorize their speeches since writing would be an inferior practice according to the author.
