AS FIGURAS DE LINGUAGEM E SUAS TRADUÇÕES EM NOTRE-DAME DE PARIS:
A REPRESENTAÇÃO DA MONSTRUOSIDADE NO ESPAÇO OBSCURO DA MASMORRA

As figuras de linguagem são recursos estilísticos que podem enriquecer um texto. Victor Hugo, no capítulo “Lasciate ogni speranza” (“Deixai toda esperança”), da obra Notre-Dame de Paris, faz uso desse recurso para descrever o escuro, o terrível e o monstruoso espaço da masmorra, na qual Esmeralda foi presa. Objetiva-se aqui analisar as figuras de linguagem presentes no texto-fonte e que servem para caracterizar esse ambiente e, posteriormente, traduzi-las, a fim de verificar sua permanência e adequação no texto-alvo. Essa análise se apoiará nos estudos de Pierre Fontanier sobre as figuras de linguagem, e nos estudos de Paul Ricœur e Marivonne Boisseau, no que se refere à tradução. Para abordar o grotesco e a monstruosidade, partiremos das reflexões de Victor Hugo, Edmond Burke e Claude Kappler.
