The ecological dimension of ten agricultural production units in the Settlement Facão, Cáceres/MT was studied using the MESMIS methodology even considering the agroecosystems sustainability, applying questionnaires containing eleven indicators which were graded between zero and ten. Chemical analysis of soil fertility (0-20cm) was held in the productive areas and measures penetration resistance using an impact penetrometer in the pastures. Was detected as an obstacle most limiting the existence of interaction between the levels of soil compaction layers subsurface of pasture with the amount of animal unit ha-1, affecting the sustainability of the ecological dimension of PSUs, however there are opening for organic production. One of the positive side we can mention the use of organic matter from own origin, which possibly keeps the resilience of agroecosystems soil fertility, despite the low use of agro-ecological techniques and clearing areas of legal reserve. The MESMIS methodology is suitable in assessing the sustainability of agricultural production units located in rural settlements, to allow adaptation to new ecological indicators quantify how the density of soil fertility and contributing to the detection of the potential of agroecological transition.
