Abstract

The North Minas Gerais shows in almost all months of the year, edaphoclimatic unfavorable conditions for agricultural production. To achieve this activity, often, farmers use production techniques, when applied without guidance become detrimental to the environment and production. Therefore, this study aimed at analyzing the conditions of production of twelve farms, distributed in four communities in region of the Alto Rio Pacuí, located in the North Minas Gerais. The assessment, pre-determined questionnaires were used, with questions about the soil use, production by area, culture, type of irrigation systems, source of water supply, among others. In this research, concludes that the economic activity in the region is highlighted in the cultivation of vegetables, irrigated by different irrigation systems, causing, according to farmers, reduction of water flow of the Pacuí river and its tributaries.
