Recent dynamics in the rural environment at the Municipality of Nossa Senhora da Glória - SE

The objective of this paper was to analyze the recent dynamics in the rural environment in a municipality in the Sergipe State semi-arid region, recognized for its dynamic economy based on the production and processing of milk by small scale farmers, despite a lack of specific and continuous policies for this purpose. The research area is the municipality of Nossa Senhora da Glória located at the Alto Sertão Sergipano. The methods emphasized the contact with the key-players through interviews, field observations, transversal walkings for landscape description, meetings and survey of secondary data. The main results demonstrated that Nossa Senhora da Glória municipality has in this totality three development units with unique dynamics depending on the farmers ́ strategies, access to and quality of natural resources, and the degree of involvement with markets (labor, product, and financial).
