Esta resenha aborda o livro Towards responsible machine translation: ethical and legal considerations in machine translation, de 233 páginas, editado por Helena Moniz e Carla Parra Escartín e publicado nos formatos .epub e .pdf pela Springer em março de 2023. O livro representa o quarto volume de uma série de obras que discorrem acerca dos mais variados assuntos relacionados à tradução automática (TA) e é composto por 11 capítulos no total, contando com a contribuição de 23 autores experts em seus respectivos campos de pesquisa e de atuação profissional. Dividida em três partes – I. Responsible machine translation: ethical, philosophical and legal aspects; II. Responsible machine translation from the end-user perspective; e III. Responsible machine translation: societal impact –, a obra trata da ética na TA sob uma perspectiva holística, considerando a ética em sua amplitude e apresentando os diversos fundamentos históricos, sociais, técnicos e filosóficos que a envolvem. Trata-se, portanto, de um livro prioritariamente destinado a estudiosos, pesquisadores e entusiastas dos Estudos da Tradução, da Linguística Computacional e da Filosofia.
