Subjetividad y Género a Través de la Interpretación Simultánea de Conferencias en la Comisión de la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer (ONU)

Este trabajo se plantea explorar el modo en que la interpretación, en tanto forma de traducción, contribuye (o no) con los procesos transnacionales de producción y diseminación de una agenda de género latinoamericana. Para situar nuestra investigación, reseñamos brevemente las investigaciones realizadas en materia de género en los estudios de interpretación. Luego, proponemos un examen de las formas de materialización de la subjetividad en el discurso mediado por la interpretación simultánea de conferencias del español al inglés en el ámbito de la Comisión de la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer (ONU), uno de los foros internacionales de mayor envergadura para la promoción de los derechos políticos, económicos, civiles, sociales y educativos de las mujeres. Mediante un análisis cualitativo de casos, examinamos mecanismos de focalización sintáctica en los discursos interpretados y su impacto en la forma en que se configura la subjetividad. Partimos de la hipótesis de que estos mecanismos operan activamente en la (re)creación de prácticas discursivas institucionalmente arraigadas/validadas. Los resultados muestran que ciertos fenómenos de focalización operan como atenuantes de una agenda de género vinculada a la lucha contra las inequidades de género y los estereotipos ajustados a esquemas heteronormativos y patriarcales propios de las culturas mayoritarias.
