It can be argued that it is necessary to focus on at least two actions to drive the development of Agroecology Science. One is to improve its performance in the academia and within movements, seeking to strengthen its physical and personnel structure and adopt a systemic approach, overcoming the resistance and antagonisms of the Alternative Agriculture era. And, secondly, to seek greater effectiveness in political agency, as pressure groups or as actors in spheres of power, to establish long-term public policies that alter the reality of the development model. These are urgent and necessary actions to achieve a transition to global sustainability, beyond the sociotechnical niches to which we currently seem to be complacent.
