Abstract

Agroecology is the science that guides the principles able to deploy a new basis for sustainable rural development by supporting the transition of styles from basic ecological agriculture. In this context, agroforestry succession was consolidated at various locations in Brazil and abroad, as an alternative style to produce food, energy and wood fiber, maximizing use of resources through a temporal and spatial arrangement generated during the natural succession, and thus allowing an increase in total output. This study intended to elucidate the adoption of successional agroforestry in family agriculture production style of the South Territory of Sergipe. To this it was accomplished through the technique of semi-structured questionary and guided walk, visits and interviews to assess the perception of farmers on this style of production and barriers for adoption. The study was conducted in four communities of the area with six farmers, indicated by the body of the territory by participating in workshops and spaces for buildingan ecologically-based agriculture.
