Agroecology, sustainability and artisanal fishermen: The case of Tramandaí (RS)

Abstract

This Master dissertation center in the analyses of the handcraft fishermen community ofTramandaí-Rs. The complexity of the object of study guided us to the methodological option of the use ofthe systemic focus to the research operation. The theory adaptation of agrarian systems to the work withfishermen was the chosen path. Thus, through the reconstitution of evolution and differentiation of thefishing systems were possible the identification of the four phases, or fishing systems, that formed themoments of the community development with its own and different features. In the last fishing system,the contemporary, it was accomplished a typological division of the current systems of production infishing and its descriptions. It was found six systems that differ among them for the peculiarity of theirtechnical systems of capture, for their strategies of social reproduction or for their relation with Nature.After the identification and description of the systems of production, an analysis of sustainability wasaccomplished based in social, economical, environmental and political indicators that were built upjustified in the Agrocology. The method of sustainability evaluation used biograms and tables of contentsto aid the understanding of the systemic implications of the subject.
