Power and Academic hegemony
Does Regional Economic History Exist?

This article seeks to polemicize against a certain naturalization that exists in the field of history, especially economic history, according to which some works are classified as regional works, which indicates a certain differentiation criterion, and others are not. We argue that this definition derives from a certain power, derived from the exercise of a certain symbolic capital, emanating from the large research centers located mainly in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, at a time when they concentrated the largest graduate programs in history in the country.
