Abstract

In this paper I present some particular concepts that were developed in different disciplinary fields since the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, and I place them in dialogue with epistemology, in order to argue that a risk epistemology with current elements can be thematized. Thus, a series of new terms were generated in various scientific and philosophical areas from the 1970s to the present in order to give a conceptual account of some of the problems of our time. Among them we can find: Anthropocene, ecocide, biocide, geocide, defaunation, Americanization of the world, sixth mass extinction of species, space pollution, catastrophes of harmful environmentalism and anthropic impact. These, in turn, can be linked to the classic idea of the fear society. It is possible to affirm that such terms configure a relatively recent and problematic epistemological panorama, which becomes even more complex incorporating the level of macro analysis provided by the theory of biological (co)evolution. I propose, then, that this panorama can be understood as a new epistemology of anthropic risk.
