Abstract

This review discusses the book Narratives of Mistranslation, Fictional Translators in Latin American Literature by Denise Kripper, published in 2023 in the Routledge Studies in Literary Translation collection. The study examines the influences of translation, text, and process on literary production in Latin American countries. Through the analysis of fictional works in which the authors themselves were translators or where the characters are translators, Kripper explores the dynamics involved in the process of literary production and reception in Spanish-language literary systems through “translator narratives”. Additionally, the book discusses the emergence of the fictional turn in Latin American literature, as well as pedagogical approaches in translation courses that includes translator narratives.
