Abstract

The Planet Earth receives frequent solar radiation which can bring benefits and hazards to human beings. Due to this, some protection machanisms were developed with the aim of pro- viding security to the population. Nowadays that are numorous mechanisms that can guarantee this protection, such as sunscreens, UV protection clothes and polarized glasses. In this paper it will be used the Quantum Theory proposed by Max Plack for the study of the radiation, focu- sing on the ultraviolet radiation originated from the sun. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the main types of sun protections and to explain the concept of sun protection factor. All terms utilized are applied on high school to facilitate understanding the article content. At the end of this paper, is expected the reader to comprehend how important solar protection is and the functioning of it.
