In the Northeast the castor bean is grown in almost its entirety intercropped with food crops. In order to provide information on the castor bean-sesame intercrop, highlighting the period of sowing and oil yield, an experiment was conducted under field conditions in the city of Catolé do Rocha, PB, Brazil, adopting the experimental design of randomized blocks with five treatments formed by the cropping of castor bean BRS Energia and sesame BRS Seda, as well as three intercrop, sesame sowing at 7, 14 and 21 days after castor bean. The results for production of castor bean showed that the three treatments intercropped with sesame significant difference between them and with the sowing of both crops together, sesame become more competitive with castor oil, substantially reducing the productivity of this. In general, we recommend the planting of the castor bean intercropped with sesame sowed 14 days after planting of castor oil crop.
