Abstract

The Brazilian Forest Code defines as permanent protection areas (PPAs) the tops of hills. These were regulated by CONAMA 303/2002, which states that the top third of hills and mountains, which rise more than 50 m and slope exceeds 30% should be applied.This work and evaluated the use of modeling system Geographic Information for automatically determining the permanent preservation areasto the tops of hills and mountains, which eliminates the interference of an operator in the definition of the top sand bases of the hills, was bounded in the area of APP on top of hill and mountain. For micro Southwest Serrana, North Coast and Far North of Espírito Santo in scale compatible with 1:50.000.
