Keywords:

The conventional system of flower crop is causing diverse problems, as poisoning, soil, water and food contamination. The aim of this work was evaluate the effect of plant extracts on development of plant pathogens in flowers. The plant pathogens Fusarium sp. and Botrytis sp. were isolated from flowers of Gerbera sp. and Rosa sp. showing disease symptoms. Acetic and ethanolic extracts of rosemary, equisetum, ginger, garlic, chamomile, laurel, basil, peppermint and eucalyptus were evaluated. It was observed that the etahnolic extract of chamomile inhibited in 52% the Fusarium sp. mycelial growth. The fungus Botrytis sp. was inhibited with the acetic extracts of rosemary, eucalyptus and peppermint. The antifungal potential, partial or total, of vegetable extracts against plant pathogens can be a viable alternative for the control of diseases on flowers.
