From Portuguese to Spanish

Abstract

This paper aims to show that the Grannier's theory "A Heterodox Proposal for Teaching Portuguese to Spanish Speakers" also works if it is applied in the reverse way, that is, when it is applied to the Brazilian speaker who wants to learn Spanish. The student uses the knowledge of his own language in order to create a basis over which he can build a strategy to learn the other language. An abridged version of Grannier's heterodox theory will be presented and afterwards discussed if it its inverted application can be liable to an effective learning of the Spanish language. We conclude that such a theory is useful not only for learning purposes but also for the improvement of Spanish academic teaching methods.
