Plays and drama in the didactics of french language teaching

This article reflects on the contributions plays and drama can make to learning French as a foreign language. It is based on a doctoral thesis defended in the Modern Languages Department at São Paulo University. The first section deals with the concepts of reading and vocal expression with reference to plays. The second examines the role of drama in Drama-Education. Section three describes the experience of two pilot courses in which drama and plays were employed as didactic strategies with intermediate level French foreign language students.
