This article attempts a non-technical interpretation of the technique and provenance of the thinking machine, but a hermeneutic interpretation, conceived in a historical-ontological way, based on Heidegger's meditation. The text appears as a mosaic, or a carpet, composed of pieces of this meditation. This artisanal exercise of reflection responds to a hermeneutic challenge, in a kind of ontological genealogy, seeking to remember and retrace in the courses of being in the metaphysical history of the West the provenance of the technique that made possible the invention of the thinking machine. Firstly, it tries to bring to light the hold sway of the poivhsi" (poíēsis) in the regency of the tevcnh (tḗchnē) and the vicissitudes of the being-process and being-ness of the being, in the past, until the emergence of com-position (Ge-stell). It then reflects on the present, thematizing the consummation of metaphysics in today's technique. Finally, he considers the prodromes of the thinking machine in the thought of calculation and in the transmutation of language into information. It ends by beckoning us to the wait for the unexpected
