Acceleration and the double temporality of capital: notes on the production of futures

Abstract
The objective of this article is to explore the category of acceleration in the humanities. We compare critical authors to the traditional view of how this modern phenomenon discussed in the field of classical philosophy and sociology is articulated and categorized within the social production of late capitalism. We propose a reflection that considers the influence of the concept of social acceleration, a still unknown force in the formation and perception of the contemporary world. We adopted bibliographical research and strategically analyzed audiovisual productions to hyperstitify the production of “futures” and expose through critical comparison what social aspects would actually be “accelerating”.
