AS Pálidas flores de Rosalina

Abstract

This article is a study about the construction of the female character Rosalina, from the novel Ópera dos mortos (1967) by Autran Dourado. Its theoretical basis is constituted by the theories of Ecléa Bosi (2003), in her study on time and memory; Georges Bataille (2013), as it stands in Erotismo; Lúcia Castello Branco (1991), who, in analyzing women's writing, devotes a chapter to the study of memory; Sigmund Freud (2014), who devotes a study on mourning and melancholy; and, finally, Autran Dourado (1982; 2000), in his studies on his own work. The main category of this analysis is collective and individual memory. From it, other categories are highlighted: intertextuality, metatextuality and eroticism. What was tried here was to show how and why Ópera dos mortos is a work of great aesthetic value, with an accurate critical sense.
