This article reflects on the contributions of oral traditions and their heritage, here called Brazilian Africanities (Silva, 2009), during the teaching internship experience with undergraduate students in Theater at the Department of Dramatic Art at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Practices inspired by black cultural manifestations such as jongo, samba and afoxé were bridges for processes of creation and vocal agency. The conceptual notions of Africanities, ancestry and oral traditions were also worked on based on thinkers such as Petronilha Beatriz Gonçalves e Silva (2009), Muniz Sodré (1998), Leda Maria Martins (2021), Amadou Hampaté Bâ (2010).
