Abstract

Abstract: The objective of the work is to analyze the structure of the Tourism Satellite Account (CST) as a methodological tool for the economic measurement of Brazilian tourism. It is qualitative, descriptive, and bibliographical documents. The study was carried out using secondary data extracted from the documents, CST-99 from Brazil and compared with the guidelines of the WTO document Tourism Satellite Account: Recommended Methodological Framework 2008. It was found that the CST is the most appropriate methodological tool to measure the dynamics of tourism, assists in the creation of public policies, strategic planning, allows and evaluates/monitors the impact of tourism on the economy. It was also found that Brazil had a CST prototype, however, it presented obstacles such as lack of data and methodological weaknesses.
