The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of winter green fertilizers and consortia with perennial and annual legumes summer on the productivity of maize crop in agroecological transition system. The experiment was conducted in tillage without the use of pesticides in the crop year 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. The experimental design was completely randomized with five treatments: Avena strigosa (a), Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa (b), Trifolium rappens perennial (c), Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa + weeding (d), Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa + Mucuna deeringiana (e), Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa + Crotalaria spectabilis (f). The Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa + weeding consortium provided the highest gains, with a 64% increase in maize production compared to Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa. There was no difference of the consortium Avena strigosa + Vicia sativa + weeding to the other treatments with summer consortia (c, e, f). This demonstrates that the management of spontaneous plants through the consortium with legumes is feasible.
