Family farming and Agroecology: a look at the journey of the rural youth in Paraná southwest

Abstract

The mainly of this article is to present some reflections about the standard succession of family farming in vegetable agroecosystems of ecologic basis on the southwest Paraná. The presented data shows that familiar labor in these production units has a shortage tendency, since most of the involved in the activities are older than thirty years. Of the six agroecosystems searched, only two farm families have the young integrate, but they don’t participate of the agroecosystems activities. This scenery provides a reflection about the familiar agriculture future and the agroecology in the region, highlighting the need of actions to its fortification, being one way to the sustainable regional development.
