Abstract

Colletotrichum gloeosporioidesis the causal agent of anthracnose, the main postharvest diseases of papaya. The aim of this study was to investigate fungitoxicity ethanol extract of representatives of five families of plants and essential oil of the Asteraceae onColletotrichum gloeosporioidescollected from papaya fruit (Carica papayaL.). In the production of ethanol extracts was used eleven plants, two for obtaining the essential oil. The extracts were obtained from a solution of 80% ethanol combined with the powder of the leaves of the plants and oil extraction by means of Clevenger apparatus. The results for theextracts were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey test at 5%. And from the essential oil were evaluated by percentage inhibition of mycelial growth (PICME). The extracts and essential oils were able to inhibit C. gloeosporioides. The most promising result was obtained with the essential oil ofBaccharis trimerathat it inhibited 100% of the fungus in aliquots from 15μL
