Abstract

We are threatened in all dimensions of life. Such threats are continuously generated since their origins in a kind of civilizational crossroads. On the one hand, the logic of the advancement of human knowledge prevails through its use directed to power monopolized by power; on the other hand, we face secular demands for the sciences to contribute to a democratic and enlightened increase in well-being. Public policies of science, technology and training, as well as the validation mechanisms of private sector proposals, must be the subject of scrutiny that respects the dialogue of knowledge and the culture of peoples. We believe this will lead us to gradual construction of technological collections, analysis and responses that contribute to human emancipation, resilience of the peoples, and defense of globally positive ecosystem relations. That will result in the promotion of autonomy and the broad adoption of emancipatory concepts of fair development that respect human and environmental needs and rights.
