This paper develops from reflections, compelling self-criticism and actions related to landscape and heritage preservation, particularly in the Latin American geopolitical context. From this glance, it has been proposed to examine the conceptual-theoretical persistency that challenges the way the landscape is created and invented as a patrimonial object. It attempts to highlight the colonial status of this process, departing from a documental review traced through the references that still settle the major principals about the Preservation Theory. It’s defined as a challenge, so that critic can recreate in the decentralization of those references, the significance of transcending the idea of landscape as structured from the nature-culture dichotomy, the pretended precepts of homogeneity and immutability ascribed to what is titled as patrimonial, and the significance given to the scenic beauty notion.
