The present research aims to investigate the truth enforcement operations, as proposed by Foucault, within the so-called “semantic surveillance” operations: conservation and restoration of cultural assets. In this way, we sought to analyze occurrences and recurrences of the terms "preserve" and "restore" in Brazilian legal and infralegal provisions, seeking to situate the practices of conservation of cultural heritage as provided for by the regulations and interpreted by the federal agency for cultural heritage.
