Milton Santos. Interview. Geography. Latin America.Abstract
The work of Milton Santos reached a global pinnacle by addressing the concept of geographic space, but above all as a social instance (as well as the dimensions of politics, economy, culture and time). Geographical space finds in Milton Santos the definition of "an inseparable set of object and action systems", and the human dimension of the "force of place", in confronting globalization as a fable and perverse globalization, and in the search for "another globalization". The proposal to republish this material comes with the strength of this contextualization, but also for the great opportunity to make it available in Latin American Spanish and for the technology of digitization, since there was only a rarity of material printed in 1996. It is important to remember that the journalistic platform called AGB - Informa no longer exists. Certainly, the reader will find a current and relevant debate in these lines and reflections. In order to offer the reader a collaboration in the interest-seeking system, we have interspersed, between the questions and the answers, the topics covered in each block of questions. This interview was conducted by us on August 15, 1996, in the faculty room of the Department of Geography of the University of Sao Paulo, USP, Brazil.
