The editorial in vol. 4, no. 8 of PatryTer – Latin American and Caribbean Journal of Geography and Humanities serves two purposes. Like the previous editorial, this one is dedicated to the memory of those who died due to COVID-19 and their families; in addition, it aims to objectively highlight how this crisis affects the dynamics of work in our Latin American countries. It also aims to emphasize the importance of the thought of the Brazilian geographer Milton Santos in the current context, either for a necessary critique of the way states and governments conduct national policies, or to support research in geography and humanities.
