Taking seriously the challenge of retelling, through feminist historical narratives, a past capable of propelling a 'future beyond patriarchy' (GROSZ, 2000), this essay takes up the historical insertion of the gender approach in the creation of IPDMS. We offer a reflection on how the Institute's Gender and Sexualities WG has acted to broaden and strengthen this legal research agenda in Brazil over the last decade and point to some of our main challenges for the future.
